We designed the layout, selected wall colors, furniture, and accessories. Now, the room includes a casual space and more formal seating; textures and hues are balanced in the furnishings; accessories complete the look. Relaxed, warm, and inviting setting allows client's to incorporate artful furnishings, heirloom pieces, and modern elements to create an eclectic mix they wanted.";

description[1] = "To bring warmth and coziness to the space we used wall colors to enclose and differentiate one room from another and to tie the existing kitchen with the rest of the adjacent rooms. We accentuated the ceiling in the living room by painting it a deep caramel color and added the same hue to the dining room walls. To offset a bit more traditional to clients' tastes kitchen we included modern furnishings and craftsmen elements. Art and accessories further helped to convey clients' style.";

description[2] = "This is family's favorite spot to curl up on the sofa to watch a show, or to snuggle in the reading chair with a book. Designed window fashions further added privacy, light control, and flexibility to enjoy the views. Practical, easy to maintain, and kids' proof environment were the top priorities for this young family. We incorporated their desires and added flair to their space.";

description[5] = "Remodeled Kitchen became open and functional, with a modern mix of textures, materials and soft colors – everything the clients wanted.

For a complete design story and materials used, please view published article";

description[6] = "The clients' love for chocolate dictated the overall theme of the brown tones that resonated with their desire to have a warm, inviting and functional kitchen. Maple cabinets and the cherry island blend well with walnut hardwood floors. The layered tile in different size below the upper cabinets adds texture and frames the foliage leave pattern tile as an art piece, providing soft movement to the wall. All upper cabinets are outfitted with under-cabinet lighting. Countertops are made of porcelain tile with a slight chocolate glaze to reduce glare and provide ample low-maintenance prep space.";

description[7] = "Current focal point of the room – the hood between two windows above induction cook top (former location of the unused French door). Top drawers on each side of the cook top were made with the spice inserts for at point-of-use convenience, a drawer opposite the cook top (inside the island) has a cutlery insert to make storage and access to collection of knives handy. The blind corner cabinet is made with Hafela full roll-out double shelf cabinet, eliminating the need to look inside of the cabinet to find items.";

description[8] = "Special consideration was given to the tile design. The accent floral pattern tile was incorporated to add artful flair and became the focal point of the cabinet wall. Under-cabinet lighting helps to highlight soft silvery sage leaves. Polished glass tile in 4x6 frames the entire \"cooking\" wall easing the maintenance and visually raising the ceiling height.";

description[9] = "The former space of the partition wall – its removal allowed us to install a tall cabinet with the oven and microwave with ample landing space all around. The window next to the sink was framed with the matching millwork for a fresh look to match two new windows next to the hood.";

description[10] = "View into the living room that was remodeled along with the kitchen. The face of the island was designed with two doors that conceal two roll-out shelves created specifically to accommodate various mixing and baking equipment for the homeowners. The outlet is positioned on the right hand side of the island with the matching plate that blends in with the cherry cabinetry.";

description[11] = "The island top was made with Valley Gold marble to suite homeowners' love for baking. The honed finish created a more practical surface for wine parties and island's use as the main prep zone.";

description[12] = "An adjacent living room was remodel with the kitchen. We have changed the carpet, redesigned lighting, incorporated the speaker-system, and changed the wall color. Designed waves in the carpet tie with the floral accent tile in the kitchen; medium brown walls provide the feeling of continuous and open design.";

description[13] = "Small bathroom space enhanced with updated tile design and bathtub addition.";

description[14] = "Newly built bathroom was lacking a bathtub to be entirely functional for the family. Also, clients desired to shift the look from the heavy traditional toward modern and have a lighter, filled with air small bathroom. All of these changes had to be maintained with the existing vanity, wall and floor tile, and vanity fixtures. We embraced the challenge and created a transitional look that met all of the requirements.";

description[15] = "Showerhead, spout, and lever were selected to approximate the color finish of the vanity fixture yet provide a graceful transitional look. The tile size 4x16 and its soft matte beige color freshen up the look and make the bath space light and airy.";

description[16] = "We focused on the tile design to make the desired shift away from the heavy traditional, enclosed bathroom. Large 4x16 matte beige tile is set in a brick-pattern with an offset, initiating a lively dynamic; mosaic glass tiles in various shades add a playful flair, break up the monochromatic palette, and draw the eye toward the step.";

description[17] = "This home's original kitchen, essentially unchanged since the original 1984 construction, was due for a renovation. The clients wanted more functionality out of their kitchen area – more counter and cabinet space, a burst of color and texture, and above all ease of everyday use. They wanted a cozy kitchen commensurate with their modest cooking skills.

The new kitchen used every available inch for cabinet and counter space. Seven linear feet of counter space were added to the kitchen along with corner pivot systems, full extension drawers, and roll out shelves. Additionally, the height of the upper cabinets was extended to three feet. Altogether, these improvements nearly doubled the usable storage and counter space.";

description[18] = "Beyond functionality, the design solution called for the use of color, contrasting materials, and reflective surfaces to create the look and feel of an open grand kitchen. The new kitchen combined various textures – stone, wood, glass, fabric, and metals – and exploited their hues to create an inviting visual appeal.

Bamboo hardwoods in natural hues unified the space with the rest of the main floor, provided a spacious feel, and visually extended the kitchen lengthwise.";

description[19] = "Glass tile with a rotated \"rail-road\" layout further extended the space by emphasizing the height of the kitchen, framing the stainless steel hood as a focal point, and evenly distributing the light throughout the room.";

description[20] = "Other design elements were executed using a linear \"pattern\" as a focal point. For example, the roman shade and valance defined the window with vertically striped fabric, while stainless steel bar handles extended the height of the upper and width of the lower cabinets.";

description[21] = "The simple \"V\" groove design of the cabinet fronts combined with a rich red merlot stain added warmth and dictated an easy contemporary style. A granite countertop unified the hues of the kitchen with its wine-red speckles and flame-like sandy-green and forest green patterns that highlight the natural beauty of the stone and add lots of movement to the space.";

description[22] = "A single-basin large kitchen sink in cast iron was selected to compliment reflective black elements in the appliance front.";

description[23] = "The final touch – designing open to the kitchen dining area. The walls were painted forest green color, a shade deeper than the mozaic tile that frames kitchen's backsplash. Layered custom drape was added to visually extend the ceiling, bring the merlot color in, and tie-in the existing table in natural cherry.";

description[24] = "Homeowners desired a clean understated look for their kitchen with dining space area. To achieve the look, the surfaces were chosen free of texture and embellishments, they combined pure colors and easy maintenance. Mixture of stainless steal, reflective white tile, defused white glass, and brown dominated the kitchen theme. Dining area took more on an Asian flair, with green-tea color added to the blown glass light fixture and the window treatments. Neutral soft beige walls united two areas and filled it with light.";

description[25] = "Porcelain floor tile, reminiscent of tatami mat's texture, helped broaden the feel of the room. Modern 2x6 backsplash tiles added artistic flair to the cooking space. The outer edge of the sink cabinet is rapped in the drywall, dividing the dining area from the kitchen.

Small alcove further differentiated the dining space from the utilitarian kitchen; however, to embrace the open connection between the two rooms, the white wall tile was added.";
